Kevin A. Foster Obituary, CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Kevin A. Foster, 55, of Cambridge, Massachusetts, has passed away after being pulled from the waters at Long Point Wildlife Refuge on Martha’s Vineyard while attempting to support his teenage sons caught in a rip current. Foster was taken by ambulance to a hospital but did not survive, based on to representatives.

Foster’s death has left loved ones, friends, colleagues, and members of the Cambridge public mourning a man remembered for his dedication to his loved ones, his commitment to service, and his ability to bring people together. Friends described him as someone who consistently built connections wherever life took him, from Cambridge and Boston to Martha’s Vineyard and other communities where he lived and worked.

Per to the Cape and Islands district attorney’s office, Foster entered the water after his teenage children were caught in a rip current and called for assist. His sons were rescued safely, while Foster was later pulled from the water unconscious. Despite rescue efforts and transportation to a hospital, he could not be revived.

For those who knew Foster, his role as a father stood at the center of his life. Longtime friend Darren Riley said there was nothing more key to Foster than being a dad and helping raise his two sons. Friends remembered him as a father who encouraged his children to explore the world around them and remain engaged in the activities and communities that mattered to them.

Foster was also remembered for a career marked by leadership and mentorship. Originally from Arkansas, he held leadership positions at several technology companies and most recently served as vice president of product and customer marketing at Katalon, a Georgia-based artificial intelligence and software development company. Colleagues described him as talented, hardworking, and deeply committed to investing in and mentoring others.

His contributions extended beyond his professional career. In Cambridge, Foster served on the city’s Neighborhood Preservation Act committee, helping guide investments involving affordable housing, historic preservation, and open spaces. He was also active with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., serving on the board of its Boston alumni chapter and helping establish a foundation supporting community programs and undergraduate mentorship.

Friends also remembered Foster’s longstanding connection to Martha’s Vineyard, a place he loved and visited with family and friends. His wife, Nadia Foster, described him as a beloved father, husband, son, and friend, expressing the family’s profound grief following his death. Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Cambridge, with burial scheduled to follow at Cambridge Cemetery.

Kevin A. Foster leaves behind a legacy centered on family, service, mentorship, and local area. The people whose lives he touched are now coming together to support his relatives and preserve the values he demonstrated throughout his life. His memory will remain with his relatives, friends, colleagues, fraternity brothers, and the communities he worked to strengthen.
