Stacey Renee Shay Obituary, MEADVILLE, Pa. — Stacey Renee Shay, 42, of Meadville, Pennsylvania, passed away comfortably at Marquette Hospice House on August 9, 2026, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Shay was born on October 27, 1983, in Meadville to Robert J. Shay Jr. and the late Darla (Gamble) Shay. She attended Meadville High School and later attended Edinboro University.
During her high school years, Stacey was a star athlete who excelled in several sports, including basketball, softball, wrestling and soccer. Her passion for athletics was an key part of her younger years, and she remained a die-hard Steelers fan throughout her life.
Stacey worked in-home healthcare for Sunny Days. Outside of work, she enjoyed spending time outdoors, shopping, and celebrating holidays, particularly Halloween and Christmas. She also shared a special bond with her beloved pets, including her dogs Apollo, Topaz and Ravyn and her ferret, Domino.
She is survived by her son, Payton Shay, and his considerable other, Heather, of Meadville; her grandchildren, Payton Jr. and Praxton; her father, Bob Shay; and her brother, Robbie Shay, and his significant other, Stephanie, of Saegertown. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, RJ, Keegan, Victoria and Haley.
Stacey was preceded in loss by her mother, Darla Shay; her stepfather, Jack Lackey; her godfather, Dom Mottillo; and her beloved ferret, Carmella.
A Celebration of Life for Stacey will be held at a later date. Her relatives expressed gratitude to the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, Fox Chase Cancer Center, especially Dr. Igor Astaturov, and Marquette Hospice House for the care and support provided to Stacey.
Stacey was loved by those who knew her and will be deeply missed by her family, friends and everyone whose life she touched. Her athletic spirit, dedication to her work, love for her loved ones, and cherished memories will remain part of the lives of those who knew her. Her family and loved ones will carry her memory forward as they remember the life she lived and the moments they shared with her.
