David Len McDaniel Obituary, GREENSBORO, N.C. — David Len McDaniel, 56, of Greensboro, North Carolina, lost her life Sunday night after being thrown from his motorcycle and struck by another vehicle on U.S. 29, according to the Greensboro Police Department.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 9:07 p.m. on southbound U.S. 29 between Textile Drive and East Wendover Avenue. McDaniel was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on the highway when he and another vehicle traveling alongside him encountered standing water on the roadway.
Based on to police, McDaniel was thrown from his motorcycle and landed in the roadway. A passing vehicle subsequently struck him, resulting in fatal injuries. McDaniel was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle that struck McDaniel remained at the crash site and cooperated with Greensboro police. Authorities have not indicated whether that driver will face any charges in connection with the collision.
Police have also not released additional details regarding the circumstances that led to McDaniel being ejected from his motorcycle. Investigators are continuing to examine the events surrounding the crash, including the role that standing water on the roadway may have played.
The loss of McDaniel marks a tragic loss following the late-night collision on U.S. 29. Agencies have not released additional information about his personal life, career, relatives, or neighborhood involvement beyond his identification as a 56-year-old Greensboro resident.
