Angelee Kay Glammeier Obituary, STURGIS, S.D. — Angelee Kay Glammeier, 46, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, died Thursday afternoon, Aug. 6, after sustaining fatal injuries in a two-motorcycle crash near Sturgis, per to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
The fatal collision happened at approximately 1:06 p.m. on U.S. Highway 14A near mile marker 50, about two miles from Sturgis. Preliminary information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicated that Glammeier was traveling eastbound on a 2013 Suzuki Gladius 650 when the crash occurred.
Per to investigators, 77-year-old Darry Warnock Stuart of Wrentham, Massachusetts, was traveling westbound on a 2013 Victory Jackpot at the time. Preliminary findings indicate that Stuart failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the centerline into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with Glammeier’s motorcycle.
Glammeier was wearing a helmet when the crash occurred but suffered fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead following the collision. Her death has brought an end to the life of a 46-year-old Sioux Falls resident whose passing is now being remembered in connection with the tragic crash near Sturgis.
Stuart was also wearing a helmet and suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a hospital in Sturgis for medical treatment following the collision.
The crash temporarily closed the eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 14A as emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene. Authorities remarked the roadway remained closed for approximately one hour before reopening.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal motorcycle crash. Authorities have not released additional information indicating whether speed, impairment or any other factors contributed to the collision.
